Heraldry – Eastern Roman Empire
The House of Bourbon-Parma (Italian: Casa di Borbone di
Parma) is an Italian royal and ducal family and cadet branch of the House of
Bourbon. The House descended from the French Capetian dynasty in male line whose
members once ruled the Duchy of Parma. By marriage, they have a claim to be
titular emperors of the Eastern Roman Empire and they include it in the
beautiful coat of arms depicted here. However, out the pretenders the one with
best right is the head of the Russian Imperial House, Maria Vladimirovna, a
descendant of Nicholas I's eldest son Emperor Alexander II (1855–1881).
